Elegant design and well thought out details
The CH33T chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1957 and manufactured for 10 years. After a 45-year break, production was resumed.
Attractiveness and sturdiness were a big factor when planning the design. The sensible ergonomics also fit in well with the harmonious and finely shaped features of the chair.
The CH33T appears visually light with a clear separation between the bearing - the wooden frame with sloping legs - and the supported elements in the form of the two plywood shell shapes. In combination with the oval seat, the curved shape of the backrest allows the chair to be swiveled in and to continue to have support in inclined sitting positions. In the CH33P version of the chair, comfort is increased by an upholstered seat covered with textiles or leather.
