We have our design offices and showrooms united under one roof. With over 800 square meters of space, Grünbeck is one of the largest design brand stores in the heart of the city. In 2008, the first international Rimadesio flagship store opened, and we are VIP partner of renowned manufacturers such as Poliform, Flexform, Treca Paris, Walter Knoll, Wittmann, Cor, Interlübke, Rolf Benz and other top European brands.
At Grünbeck, you'll not only find many beautiful things; our team primarily designs your personal luxury for your home or office. Our roots in craftsmanship remain strong today, in 2024, our workshop, warehouse, and carpentry teams were relocated to a more strategically advantageous location in Perchtoldsdorf. This allows us to combine perfectly exceptionally comfortable interior design solutions from designer furniture and custom-made carpentry.

From a workshop to a designhouse
Interior design has been our passion for over three generations.
Johann Grünbeck, born in 1904 in the Waldviertel region near Gmünd, founded his own workshop in Mollardgasse, Vienna, in 1932 after passing his master carpenter's examination. This laid the foundation for today's company. In 1940, the business moved to its current location at Margaretenstraße 93, a building originally constructed in 1886 by the Wrytlik carpentry workshop. There, he expanded the workshop and employed up to 45 people. Later, a second store opened on Westbahnstraße.
Johann Grünbeck, born in 1935, studied at the Academy of applied arts in Vienna and received the Austrian State Prize for Furniture and Interior Design in 1957 for his creativity. Then he spent some time in Sweden, where he had the opportunity to learn from various architects. "Das Möbel" on Wiedner Hauptstraße was one of the best stores for Scandinavian design furniture. In 1979, he became a member of the Vienna Group for Interior Design, which, until 2005, promoted high-quality designer furniture and manufacturers through joint marketing and presentations at the Vienna Trade Fair. The store on Westbahnstrasse was successfully run by Ilse Grünbeck as a english and french style furniture shop.
Stefan Grünbeck, born in 1966, studied interior design and furniture making at the Mödling Technical College and completed his architecture studies at the Vienna University of Technology. After several internships in joineries and with architects, he assisted with the major renovation of the original building and has been with the company since its opening in 1996. Both stores were gradually relocated to Margareten, and the company was acquired in 2009. Since then, he continuously renovates the historic building to ensure that the showrooms for international design brands are always state-of-the-art. His son, Johannes Grünbeck, is now also studying architecture at the Vienna University of Technology.
